Exotic Travel in Krabi Thailand

January 29, 2017

One of the most remarkable exotic travel destination in Thailand is Krabi. This place is also your gateway to many islands such as Koh Phi Phi and Koh Lanta in the Andaman sea in Southern Thailand.
(Most of all white sandy beaches, crystal clear water, fascinating coral reefs, caves)

If you like to have a spontaneous travel, and do not book your hotels earlier; there are still many possibilities on arrival. The local travel agencies often provide good options.

We travelled from Koh Phi Phi to Krabi Ao Nang by ferry. On arrival, we stayed “Phu Pha Aonang Resort & spa hotel”. This is a newly decorated (wooden style clean rooms) hotel, located in the forest. There are tuk tuk (3 wheel bike for 2-4 people) in front of the hotel, which drive you to Ao nang beach.

Ao Nang
Krabi’s most developed beach, a long beach fringed by palm trees.

The south end of the beach, is home for a lot of monkeys. They come very close and can take food from your backpack or can steal your sunglasses from your bag. The mother monkeys can be aggressive if there are baby monkeys around.
The stairs are heading to a nice hotel, Centara.

There are long tail boats from Ao Nang beach to Railey and Phra Nang. These beaches are much cleaner and the nature is nicer in these beaches.

Railey Beach
Thailand’s rock climbing Mecca, a craggy peninsula with several small beaches. Boats arrive to West Railey beach. Afterwards, you can walk from Railey West Beach (known as Sunset Beach) to Railey East Beach (known as Sunrise Beach) in 10 minutes.

Do not forget to enjoy the food from long tail boat food sellers, especially grilled corn.

You can also find cheap simple accommodation here, “hippy chic” travelling.

During the full moon time, the flux and reflux is remarkable here. Around 17:00, to get on the boat to return is more difficult. Sometimes, there are tractors to carry the people to the boats.

Phra -nang Beach

Phra Nang Bay is on the southern point of Railay Beach, it is only reachable by boat. Main activity here is rock-climbing. There are climbing schools for beginners if you have the interest and the condition.

Drive to Bor Thor fishing village and Canoeing
We booked a daily tour, pick up from our hotel at 08:30. Bor Thor is a fishing village, one hour driving from AoNang. We did not feel that safe with the driver, unfortunately the traffic in Thailand with these bad drivers can be sometimes dangerous.

The cave is accessible with the canoe.  Under the water from the floor of Tham Phi Hua To, the Big-Headed Ghost Cave (Skull Cave) in the Krabi province of Thailand. The figures on the cave walls from 3400 B.C. Other colors disappeared , only red and black colors remained.

Go to Krabi town for Night Market
Friday and Saturday evenings, there is a night market at Krabi town mainly has a lot of local food: seafood, fried shrimps, fish, noodles, soup, rice. Thai people do not cook at home, mainly shop the food from these markets and street sellers.
Do not miss the local food: delicious, fresh and cheap.

Local buses are full of people and stopping often. It is not the fastest way to go to Krabi town, however is good to experience the local life.
