Alicante – A day trip to El Campello

If you stay in Alicante at summer period, a perfect day trip is to El Campello. It is popular with Spanish tourists, located in the Northern of Costa Blanca. Population of this small town is around 26 000.

Take a swim here at Costa Blanca beaches, and enjoy your delicious lunch.

It is very easy to reach here by tram from Luceros or from Marq Castillo, L2 or L3 yellow line, every half hour. The tram ticket for Zone A is Metropolitano ticket. You can buy Metropolitano tickets for one direction. Cost will be 1,45 Euro.

After 30 minutes with scenic tram view, you will reach El Campello, last station. Just turn right and walk down to the beach road. Marina and old historical city is short walking distance from here.

The tower overlooking to harbour was built in 16th century as a viewpoint to Berber pirates. During the day, smoke was used as warning signal and during the night, fire from the tower was warning about pirates.

There are archaeological remains at La Illeta, behind the harbour. There are also remains from Roman fish factories here.

Around 10 km south, the best beach is Muchavista.

Tram is following the beach road ; there are lots of vacation apartments in the area.
